Service at the Oriental Bugis was a little slow, but that could be attributed to place being very busy. Nevertheless it did seem the staff could be trained to have an all-round role. There were customers kept waiting whilst a couple of tables were free after having been cleared and cleaned. In the meantime there were also vacated tables waiting for the dishes to be cleared and table wiped. The front of house staff seemed to have dedicated roles rather than being all-rounders. To the all important food, it was very good. We noticed that the Oriental Kopi chain is part of the Paradise Group. Having had a good yumcha at one of their restaurants in Hong Kong, it seems The Paradise Group has a strong focus on delivering excellently prepared food with flavour. The Rendang Beef Nasi Briyani was a great first up local meal after flying in from Hong Kong. The Eight Treasure herbal drink was refreshing and soothing - the perfect drink to acclimatize to Singapore’s warm and humid weather. Finished the meal off with Tang Yuan (tong yuen) Sweet Red Bean Soup and in Sweet Black Glutinous Rice Soup. Loved them both. We noticed the pre-packaged Singaporean/Malaysian style coffee and tea. We wanted to buy a couple of boxes, but unfortunately we had no luggage space for it. Since returning to Australia, we’ve found that Oriental Kopi’s coffee and tea are available here at around AUD10 per box.

fried chicken is better than Nanyang, but overall Old Town still has the best nasi lemak. Oriental's nasi lemak lacks fragrance and too dry for my taste. But in general Oriental is better than Nanyang, their menu variety is refreshing, curry fish ball, egg tarts, and bee hoon all nice. Will return to try others. Long queue, service is good. eat within 1hr limit.

Walk in on a weekend afternoon at 4pm plus and waiting time is around 10 minutes to be seated. Ordered the Nanyang Curry Fish Ball, Curry Cheong Fun, Orential Egg Tart and Egg Mayo Toast. The Curry Fish Ball and Curry Cheong Fun is abit spicy and the taste is flavourful. The Egg Mayo Toast and Egg Tart is crustly and delicious. Service staff are also very attentive and friendly.
